Les Indiennes Paule Pillow Cover
A beautiful pillow cover made of a medium weight organic cotton with a great floral print. These are made entirely by hand from the beginning of the preparation of the organic cotton to the finishing with the ancient art of the kalamkari printing technique. The whole process takes great care and time - it's very labor intensive and highly dependent on the weather. The production does not cause pollution nor does it disrupt the traditional lifestyle of the village where it is made. What beauty! And the finished pieces are simply stunning - we have put together a collection of our favorite blue and white pieces, the florals a fun part of our selection. This pillow cover has an envelope closure on the side with two ties that can be tied into bows. The floral print is on the front and back of the cover.
Each pillow cover measures 18" x 18", sold individually and as just the cover. We recommend filling the cover with a 19" x 19" insert.
Because of the natural dyes and hand-making in combination with nature and the environment, small smudges and imperfections are normal and add to the beauty of each piece. Because only natural dyes are used, bleeding and fading can occur over time.
Care: The first few washes should be done by hand in cold water. For machine washing, wash the items separately on the delicate cycle with the maximum cold water setting. Add 1/4 cup to 1 cup of white vinegar to the load, followed by an extra cold rinse.
100% pre-shrunk, organic cotton, made in India.
Mary Mulcahy launched Les Indiennes in 2002 after dreaming up vivid images of naturally dyed cotton with airy patterns of big, single colored motifs. She found a craftsman in a tiny village in southern India who was one of very few people still practicing the ancient art of kalamkari printing. The collection began here and has expanded over the years to include a wide range of patterns and styles. And fun for us, the Les Indiennes studio was for several years just a few blocks away from our current shop in Tucson. We love all the wonderful prints in blue and white and are so happy to offer our favorites at our shop!
